For us, safety isn’t just a priority, it’s a responsibility shared by every associate. We are committed to maintaining a culture where no unsafe act goes unrecognized or unaddressed. Given the inherent risks of our industry, our team is trained to continuously assess potential hazards and take immediate action to prevent accidents. If unsafe practices arise, we intervene to protect both our people and the integrity of our operations.

Fountain Tire Mine Service’s health and safety program includes the following items:

Safe Work Practices

Safety Communication & Meetings

Risk Management & Compliance

Training & Safety Culture

Before starting any task, employees must complete a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Field Level Risk Assessment (FLHA) to ensure risks are identified and managed. Every associate has the right and responsibility to refuse work they believe to be unsafe. To maintain a safe working environment, all tasks must follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and employees are required to wear company-supplied, task-specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suited to the job or environment.
Active participation in safety meetings is compulsory, whether they are tailgate meetings, workbench discussions, or monthly lunchroom gatherings. These meetings serve as a platform to reinforce safety protocols and share insights. Attendance and meeting reports must be submitted to Mine Service Management for record-keeping. Additionally, all employees are required to participate in monthly company-wide safety conference calls to stay informed about safety updates and initiatives.
To ensure workplace safety remains a priority, all employees must adhere to the Management of Change (MOC) protocol when modifications to tasks or procedures occur. Responsibilities are assigned to both management and employees to focus on minimizing the risk of injury ("Hurt") in all activities. Our safety policies meet or exceed the requirements set by the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Provincial Mines Act, Provincial Safety Codes, and Workers' Compensation legislation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.
Safety is a continuous process that requires ongoing education and skill development. Employees receive ongoing training on improved safety practices and procedures to maintain a high standard of workplace safety. Twice a year, dedicated safety and skill set training weeks provide additional learning opportunities to reinforce best practices. We remain committed to strengthening its safety culture across all work sites, ensuring that safety remains a priority at every level of the organization.

These a few examples of the items included in our company safety policies and practices. Ultimately the responsibility for both our own safety and that or our fellow associate or those that work around us is recognized by our safety statement “Safety is my Responsibility”.

COR Certification

We are proud to be COR (Certificate of Recognition) certified, a testament to our unwavering commitment to workplace safety. This nationally recognized certification demonstrates that our health and safety management system meets or exceeds industry standards, ensuring a proactive approach to hazard identification, risk mitigation, and continuous improvement. By maintaining COR certification, we reinforce our dedication to protecting our employees, customers, and job sites. Because safety is not just a requirement; it’s the foundation of everything we do.
